Now is the perfect time to say 'I do' in the Garden City
THE sun is shining, the flowers are blooming - spring is here and so is wedding season.
Toowoomba is beautiful all year round but when September rolls around, our city comes to life so it's no wonder it is a popular time to say "I do".
After being together for four years Toowoomba couple Jess Clarke and Mitchell Proudlock tied the knot at Preston Village Chapel and Manor on Sunday.
The couple were set on getting married in early spring and booked their wedding date 18 months in advance to ensure their day was perfect.
The new Mrs Proudlock said being a popular time of year made it difficult to book but the long wait was worth it.
"We both grew up in Toowoomba so we have always wanted to get married here and September is the perfect time of year," she said.
"The weather's perfect, it's not too hot and not too cold so we were easily able to be outside for our photos.
"We were able to get beautiful shots outside with the flowers and the sunset.
"In winter you are more pressed for time so sunset photos are harder to capture."
Mrs Proudlock said being Carnival of Flowers week gave her guests something extra to do.
"We had guests travel from as far as New Zealand and being carnival meant there was a lot happening in town," she said.
"It makes the trip worth it because our guests have so much to see and do."
Is spring the best season for a wedding?
This poll ended on 30 September 2015.
This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.
Toowoomba celebrant Collette Rooney said romance blossomed this time of year.
"It's spring time, the grass is green, flowers are out so it makes a perfect backdrop for photos," she said.
"It's carnival so everyone is in high spirits and it's school holidays so it makes it easier for guests with children.
"It's just an all-round great time of year. I've done weddings every month this year so every month is great but I find spring and autumn are the most popular."
