Not much love for Aussies in US Open seedings

FORMER winner Sam Stosur and fellow Queenslander Bernard Tomic are Australia's only seeded players at the US Open which starts at Flushing Meadows on Monday.

Stosur (pictured), who blew American Serena Williams off the court in the 2011 final to claim her only grand slam title, has been seeded at 22.

Williams has gone on to win eight major tournaments since that loss to the Australian, including the past three US Opens, and has again been seeded No.1.

On the men's side, world No.1 Novak Djokovic was not surprisingly given the No.1 seeding, ahead of Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Former world No.1 Rafael Nadal is down at No.8. Tomic was the only Australian to be seeded in the men's draw, coming in at 24.

The 22-year-old has three career titles to his name, including this year's Bogota Open in Colombia.
