Mark Scott confirms he will leave ABC in 2016
ABC managing director Mark Scott has confirmed he will be leaving the ABC in mid-2016, after 10 years leading the organisation.
In confirming his departure to staff this afternoon, Mr Scott said the move should not come as a surprise.
"I have made no secret of the fact that I think 10 years is a long time to run an organisation, particularly in a sector as dynamic and fast-changing as media," he said.
In the interim, Mr Scott will focus on a number of major projects and his commitment to ensuring the ABC continues to serve the nation as the independent home of Australian conversations, culture and stories.
During his time as managing director, Mr Scott has overseen the introduction of News24 and the development of digital platforms as well as managing major cuts to the ABC's budget.
