Manchester United in second 4-0 thrashing

MANCHESTER United has maintained its early rage in the English Premier League, registering a second successive 4-0 win.

After putting West Ham to the sword in the opening round, the Red Devils this time crushed Swansea with Eric Bailly, Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial all scoring.

Man U had led 1-0 at the break before the floodgates opened in a five-minute period late in the game.

Manager Jose Mourinho said he wasn't prepared to settle for a 1-0 win.

"There was no need to close the door. Just let the horses run freely," he said.

"We tried to control the game by keeping the ball and creating chances."

Swansea was annoyed Pogba was allowed to remain on the field after escaping a second yellow card for a first-half foul when tripping Martin Olsson.

Pogba was a star, heading the ball into the crossbar, before Bailly opened the deadlock just before half-time, then scoring himself to make it 3-0 in the 82nd minute and then setting up Martial two minutes to put the icing on the cake.

"We are more confident (than last season)," Pogba told Sky Sports:

"We know each other more. We work for each other and I think that is easier for us. We want to carry on on this road."

Sadio Mane's cool second-half finish earned Liverpool a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Despite missing Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Philippe Coutinho through injury, Liverpool finally struck in the 73rd minute and sealed its first win of the campaign after drawing 3-3 at Watford in their opening fixture.
