Man in serious condition after swerving to avoid horse

A CAR has reportedly rolled after the driver swerved to avoid a horse.

The crash occurred along Burke Development Road, 15kms south of Chillagoe in northern Queensland around 3:30pm on Saturday.

Emergency services airlifted the 77-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle to Cairns Base Hospital.

He is in a serious condition. 

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
