Man missing since Sunday believed to have died in car crash

A MAN killed in a crash near Legume had been missing from his home in Queensland since the weekend, police have said.

The 79-year-old man, Des Salmon, was reported missing to Queensland police yesterday and had not been seen since he left his home at Warwick about 8am on Sunday.

Mr Salmon's body was found yesterday in his Honda Jazz, which had crashed down an embankment next to the Mt Lindesay Road, near the junction of Vinegar Hill Road near Cullendore, south west of Legume.

Police Media said the crashed car was spotted and reported about 10.45am by a passing motorist. Paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service and Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter went to the crash site and found the body.

It was not known when the crash happened. However, police said it appeared Mr Salmon had been travelling south from Legume when the car went off the road.

No other vehicles appeared to have been involved, police said.

Police said they hope to confirm Mr Salmon's cause of death, through a post-mortem examination.
