Man jumps from burning boat on Gold Coast

2:30PM : A man has been forced to jump from a burning houseboat on the Gold Coast.

The 50-year-old suffered minor burns to his hands after leaping from the vessel off Marine Parade in Labrador.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the man was taken in a stable condition to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The seven-metre long boat was moored about 200 metres off shore when the fire took hold about 1.25pm, with water police assisting firefighters to get close to the burning vessel.


The fire was extinguished just before 2.10pm.

A BOAT is on fire in the Gold Coast Broadwater in Labrador.    

Ten News reports a man has been seen jumping from the boat to escape the flames.   

A 50-year-old man has been taken to Gold Coast Uni Hospital in a stable condition with burns to his hands.
