Man dead, woman injured after crash at Oakview

POLICE are investigating a fatal single vehicle traffic crash that occurred at Oakview near Kilkivan early this morning.

Initial investigations indicate the crash occurred on the Wide Bay Highway about 400m west of the Schollick Road intersection.

The vehicle was travelling westbound and left the road, hitting a tree.

Police and emergency services were notified about 3am and attended the scene.

A 24-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 23-year-old woman was taken to Gympie Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate.
