Man airlifted after car crash in Jimna

A MAN in his 50s was injured during a rally car race near Jimna in the Somerset region on Saturday.

The driver sustained suspected spinal and chest injuries after crashing into a tree about 12.30pm. 

The Toowoomba RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter arrived at the Brisbane Sporting Car Club rally event shortly after 1pm.

The man's injuries were assessed and treated by CareFlight's Critical Care Doctor and the QAS Flight Intensive Care Paramedic.

He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.
