AN INJURED man who was found with gunshot wounds in a southeast Queensland hotel carpark is refusing to cooperate with police.

Detectives believe the 25-year-old man arrived alone in a vehicle at Fitzy’s Waterford hotel on Albert St in Waterford West about 5.50pm yesterday.

He asked for help from members of the public after receiving about six gunshot wounds - two in his stomach, three to his left thigh and another one in his right thigh.

Emergency services attended the scene, where the injured man - who is known to police - was treated before being taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police are hunting for the shooter but believe there is no threat to the public.

A boat ramp at the end of Albert St - understood to be the scene of the shooting - has been cordoned off, along with a carpark at the hotel.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information that can assist their enquiries into the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.
