Labor 'tax grab' could cost $150b says Treasurer
FEDERAL Opposition Leader Bill Shorten's populist "tax grabs" would cost Australians an eye-watering $150 billion over 10 years, the Federal Government will reveal today.
The Government will strive to refocus voters on bread-and-butter issues and highlight stark differences between Labor and the Coalition.
As Labor confines its main message to campaigning for gay marriage, Treasurer Scott Morrison will move to snap voters' attention by releasing independent modelling highlighting the cost of Mr Shorten's tax plans.
Independent modelling by the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) and Treasury shows that under a Shorten government small business, mum and dad investors, older Australians and higher-income earners would be slapped with higher taxes.
