Crime scene declared after baby rushed to hospital

POLICE this afternoon declared a Koongal home a crime scene after a baby was rushed to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious condition.

Police cordoned off the area around Pilkington St and Lakes Creek Rd about 1pm.

It is not known what the baby's injuries were or what happened at the scene.

A police media spokesman says the three-month-old is due to be airlifted to a Brisbane Hospital tonight depending on whether the baby's condition stabilises enough.

Police are investigating the baby's injuries and the circumstances around the three-month-old's hospitalisation.

Initial reports suggest the baby stopped breathing for a period of time.
