THE key to winning in the dog show ring is simple - be there but don't be there.
Yes, it's a little confusing but Toowoomba's Amanda Dunn is more than happy to shed some light on how to get your dog to score a blue ribbon.
The first rule she says, is to be a ghost.
"The judges don't need to see you, they need to see your dog," Ms Dunn, 25, revealed as she took a break from the Ekka canine competition.
"Handlers don't really need any special training - they just need to walk in a straight line.
"As long as you dress nicely and don't attract attention you'll be all right."
While her cavalier King Charles spaniel failed to dazzle the judges this week, Miss Dunn was not perturbed.
Instead she jumped at the chance to help her friend Jennifer Watt show her chihuahuas, including grand champion GG.
