John Wayne joins Clive's PUP all-star party line-up

MINING billionaire-cum-aspiring prime minister Clive Palmer says he has more famous candidates than former rugby league front rower Glenn Lazarus to announce in the coming week as he continues his push for Canberra.

On a day he dubbed "Super Sunday", Mr Palmer named a Moreton Bay oyster farmer, who shares the name of a late Hollywood cowboy, among four new Senate candidates from his Palmer United Party (PUP), as he promised to inject "excitement" into the Australian political arena.

John Wayne, 53, will stand for the seat of Bowman at the September federal election.

Mr Palmer also announced IT consultant Bill Rogan would stand for Rankin; former navy officer Jeremey Davey for Moreton; and solicitor Anthony Stanton for Blair.

The PUP plans to stand candidates in all 150 electorates during the election, and Mr Palmer himself will stand for the lower house seat of Fisher in an audacious bid to become prime minister from outside parliament.
