Jennifer Hawkins marries Jake Wall in Bali
AND the bride wore ... a six-figure exclusive contract with a women's magazine.
Jennifer Hawkins, the former Newcastle Knights cheerleader who went on to become Miss Universe, a prized runway model, television host and head of her own multimillion-dollar empire, finally married her long-standing fiance, construction worker Jake Wall, in Bali late on Tuesday afternoon.
The wedding appeared to be an intimate affair, with around 70 guests descending on a white marquee adorned with huge bunches of fresh white flowers overlooking the Indian Ocean.
The wedding took place under a heavy veil of secrecy at the luxury Semara resort in Bali, with teams of SAS-trained bodyguards hired to thwart pesky paparazzi and rival reporters from doing anything that could jeopardise the exclusive deal Hawkins, via her manager Sean Anderson, had signed with Woman's Day magazine, estimated to be worth between $300,000 and $500,000.
Even the timing of the wedding, on a Tuesday, was scheduled to fit in with Woman's Day's publishing deadlines.
Hawkins is the latest in a long line of Australian celebrities to have cashed in on their wedding days, though her deal is dwarfed by the 2005 wedding of Lleyton Hewitt and Bec Cartwright.
