It’s a snap weekend

I DISCOVERED the Instagram blog when I was searching through my Instagram settings.

If you are unfamiliar with this blog and you are an Instagram addict like me, I recommend you take a look.

It contains great reads, featuring some of Instagram's favourite accounts, and the latest insta-news, like new image layouts, updates and filters.

Here is where I found the weekend hashtag project (WHP), and I thought this collective photo project might be a fun weekend activity to try.

Before I knew it, I was getting competitive with the WHP briefs and finding new ideas to snap up each weekend.

I stacked my vintage collectables up for the #WHPartifact and I used patterned reflections of a leaf with water for the #WHPabstract brief.

I was talking to friends about ideas and inspiration, and I enjoyed having something to get creative and competitive about each weekend.

With technology these days, taking photos is so easy and you can take as many as your memory card can handle.

So, if you have a camera, GoPro or even a smartphone, you're already halfway to your WHP day.

Read the latest brief on the blog, write down some ideas and start snapping.

Get creative on your angles, play with the lighting, and mess around with filters and settings.

The choices to be creative are endless.

When you're ready, post your photos up through your Instagram, including the current weekend hashtag.

Who knows, you could be featured on the blog as the project favourites.

Each WHP brief is posted on Saturday morning and the favourite posts are released through Instagram on Monday.

The photos must be taken that weekend to apply and they must suit the weekend brief.

Previous briefs have been #WHPartifacts, #WHPrhythm and #WHPabstract. These topics are usually quite broad, so anyone from around the world can participate in the event.

Whether you are on holiday or stuck home in bad weather you are bound to find something that reflects the brief.

You can WHP solo or get creative with your friends. Either way, give the Instagram WHP a try.
