IN PICTURES: How the Caloundra fire emergency unfolded

IT WAS fast-moving, ferocious and took residents and emergency services by surprise.

As a large grass fire broke out alongside the Bruce Hwy at Meridan Plains at about 1.30pm yesterday, and moved rapidly in an east/north-easterly direction threatening homes into the night, locals were quick to reach for their cameras and capture the intensity of the blaze.
