QUEENSLAND Police are investigating after reports of the attempted abduction of a child in the Gold Coast's north.

Police were called to a Pimpama address at 7.45pm after reports of a man attempting to lure a young boy into his car.

The 12-year-old boy was riding his scooter when the man, reported to be driving a dark Holden, tried to get him in the car.

The child threw his scooter down and ran home.

His parents called police immediately, who apparently patrolled the area all night.

A police spokesman confirmed officers had attended the scene and the report would be investigated.
