Girl, 15, stabbed at home in Toowoomba

A TEENAGE girl suffered a stab wound to her stomach after disturbing an intruder inside her Mount Lofty home at the weekend.

The girl, 15, was home alone at the time of the incident reported to police to have taken place between 8.30am and 9.30am Sunday.

Detective Inspector Dave Isherwood said initial lines of inquiry suggested the girl armed herself with a knife when she disturbed the intruder.

The girl suffered a minor stab wound to her stomach after a confrontation with the intruder who she told police fled the Windemere Tce home on foot.

The police dog squad was called in to try locate the person but was unsuccessful.

No witnesses have come forward to police who conducted an extensive door-knock and street patrol in the area.

Det. Insp. Isherwood said the girl was unable to give police a detailed description of the intruder.

Toowoomba police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.
