Firearms found in car using stolen plates near Tivoli

POLICE have charged a man and a woman following a police pursuit overnight in Ipswich and Brisbane.

Around 9.50pm, crews patrolling noticed a car in Haigslea that allegedly had stolen licence plates, and police have followed the car and attempted to intercept it as it drove on the Warrego Highway at Tivoli.

The vehicle kept travelling east on the Ipswich Motorway and was monitored by PolAir as police pursued the vehicle at low speed on the Ipswich motorway towards the city.

Police were able to box the vehicle in, causing minor damage to three police vehicles, and the vehicle was then stopped at Rocklea.

A man and a women were taken into custody at the scene, and it will be alleged that police located a loaded firearm in the vehicle.

An 18-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driving without a licence, failure to stop a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property, stealing and obstruct police.

A 26-year-old Lowood woman has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of explosives (ammunition), failure to stop a motor vehicle, stealing, obstruct police and receiving tainted property.
