Fatal crash driver overtaking when lost control

POLICE believe a driver who was killed in a fatal crash near Maleny was overtaking when he lost control of his vehicle.

Burpengary Forensic Crash Unit officer-in-charge Sergeant Greg Price said the 22-year-old Maleny man had just completed the manoeuvre when he oversteered, lost control and crashed into a tree on September 25.

Officers spoke with the driver of the car which was overtaken, who saw the whole crash.

Sgt Price said the crash driver had left his Maleny home and was on his way to Kilcoy.
