Fast and furious storm hits Sunshine Coast

David Didlock/ Facebook

FAST and furious is one way you could describe this afternoon's thunderstorm as it swept through the Sunshine Coast.

Lights are out on Parkland Blvd, there's branch on the road near the Big Pineapple and powerlines are down Taintons Rd at Woombye.

There were also reports of hail hitting motorists on the Bruce Highway near Nambour.

The Bureau of Meteorology says the storm, bringing damaging winds, isn't expected to last much past 5.25pm when it will head east and out to sea.
