Police find owners of cash found in cabinet

UPDATE: NANANGO Police have located the original owners of a sum of cash found inside a television cabinet.

The owners, a couple from Hervey Bay in their 50s, found out about the money through social media and contacted the Nanango Police Station.

Police said the couple was incredibly grateful to the member of public for being honest and handing it into police.

The money has been returned to the owners.

JULY 13: NANANGO police are appealing for public assistance to help find the original owner of a television cabinet found in Hervey Bay with cash inside.

Once he arrived home he began the process of unloading the cabinet from his vehicle when one of the drawers opened and a substantial amount of cash fell out.

The man presented to Nanango Police Station and handed the cash over to officers.

Police want to reunite the money with the original owner of the cabinet and are appealing for anyone who may have information about the cabinet to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
