Designers set for gala event
IPSWICH will become a fashionista's paradise this weekend when the Ipswich Fashion Festival comes to town.
The glitz and glamour will begin on Friday when Tamblyn models hit the catwalk at Ipswich Civic Centre for the 2015 Gala Evening Fashion launch.
The launch will showcase the latest in luxury formal and leisure fashion designs by George Wu, Wendy Makim, Julie Tengdahl, Bora and Pia du Pradal, along with more than 100 fashion garments from Ipswich retail stores and local designers.
Ipswich Events executive chairman Paul Casos said the Gala Fashion Evening had become a special event on the city's social calendar.
"It celebrates and promotes fashion, beauty and creative innovations from the best of international and local designer labels and myriad fashion from stores in and around Ipswich," he said.
"If you thought you had to travel to Brisbane for fashion then this evening will show you just how much is available right here in Ipswich.
"This year we welcome award-winning industry icon Dmitri Papas of Papas + Pace to judge the Session Style Hair Awards. Dmitri will also present one lucky winner with the Papas + Pace Master Award - an impressive prize for any entrant."
Attendees can get the latest fashion advice after being inspired by the gala with Riverlink's free style workshop and morning tea next Wednesday.
"Riverlink is a popular destination for fashion and accessories as we have such a great variety," Riverlink marketing manager Robyn Bannister-Tyrrell said.
"Conducting the style workshop and morning tea for our shoppers provides them with personal fashion styling tips in a fun and relaxing environment. It's a great girls' day out."
Oktoberfest will also be held as part of the fashion festival when Pumpyard Bar and Brewery hosts the three-day event from Friday to Sunday.
