A WOMAN has died from injuries sustained in an assault at a South Mackay unit complex last month.

Shirley Page, 72, died at Mackay Base Hospital early Friday morning.

Police will allege a 22-year-old man became involved in an argument with Ms Page at their Morley St unit complex on October 23.

It will be alleged the man pushed the 72-year-old to the ground resulting in her suffering major head trauma.

A man was charged with grievous bodily harm on October 25.

He has been remanded in custody and will reappear in the Mackay Magistrates Court via videolink on December 18  2017.

Investigations are ongoing.
