A DARLING Downs boy with burns to 45% of his body, including his face, is in a critical condition at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane.

The boy was taken to hospital by RACQ CareFlight Rescue after his clothing caught fire at a property near Millmerran.

A CareFlight Critical Care Doctor and QAS Intensive Care Flight Paramedic treated the boy for his extensive injuries before flying him to Lady Cilento Childrens Hospital.

He is reported to have suffered burns to at least 45% of his body, including his face.

It is not known how the boy caught fire but it is reported he ran into the family home for help.

The boy's mother and father also suffered burns in their efforts to extinguish the flames.

The father was treated locally. The boy's mother was flown to Brisbane alongside her son.

The boy travelled in a critical condition. His mother travelled in a stable condition

The same crew travelled to a property near Stanthorpe earlier in the day for another boy, aged 9, injured in a motocross accident.

He was flown in a stable condition to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
