McDonald's creating work and personalised burgers

MCDONALD'S Create Your Taste menu is not only creating new burgers but also 180 jobs for the region.

Customers at Mackay, Airlie Beach and Moranbah McDonald's outlets are able to use digital kiosks to create their own burgers from a list of more than 30 ingredients.

McDonald's Northern Beaches and Caneland Central owner Niki Ramsay said it was great to be employing so many people.

"It's a lot of staff (180) especially in the climate that we have at the moment," she said.

In Mackay, the kiosks are at the Northern Beaches, North Mackay and South Mackay stores.

Not only can people create what they want, with Create Your Taste, customers are also treated to table service.

"We've created a whole new aspect of McDonald's - a kind of gourmet burger range," Ms Ramsay said.

"It takes a little bit longer, but it's a new aspect, new creation and it's more relaxed and catered to your tastes."

Ms Ramsay said the Create Your Taste menu had already been popular in Mackay since its launch last week.

"More customers want Create Your Taste than other stores down south," she said.

The McDonald's Mackay Meteors team helped launch the service in Mackay.

Mackay Basketball manager and Meteors coach Joel Khalu said it was great to be part of the launch with their long-time sponsor.

"I think this is good for the players, it gives them a bit of creativity outside of their own kitchen, which I don't think they spend a lot of time in themselves," he said.
