Craig Thomson hit with 19 more charges in court

EMBATTLED MP Craig Thomson was slapped with an additional 19 charges when he fronted Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Mr Thomson now faces 173 fraud and theft charges relating to his time as national secretary of the Health Services Union from 2002-2007.

The former Labor MP, who will recontest the seat of Dobell as an independent in September, has consistently denied allegations he misused union funds.

He had his bail renewed and was ordered to reappear in court on July 1.
