Clive Palmer denies offering $1m a year to former staffer

CLIVE Palmer said he offered a former employee a work contract of $100,000 a year, not $1 million as the former staff member claims.

Former Coolum Resort manager Bill Schoch is suing Mr Palmer for $4.6 million over an alleged "sham" work contract.

Mr Schoch says Mr Palmer verbally offered to pay him $1 million a year for five years.

Mr Palmer gave evidence at Brisbane Supreme Court this morning and said he offered Mr Schoch $100,000 a year with a discretionary bonus.

Mr Palmer said Mr Schoch was happy with that offer.

He also said he believed Mr Schoch was "fairly desperate" for a job.

The trial continues.
