A 20-YEAR-OLD Buderim man has been charged with firing shots into a Mooloolaba unit earlier this year.

Sunshine Coast detectives allege the man discharged a firearm into a unit on Ulmarra Ct in the early hours of March 5, causing damage to an external door, washing machine and side fence.

Police at the time believed the weapon to have been a .410 shotgun.

Two residents who were home at the time were uninjured.

The 20-year-old man was charged with one count each of discharging a weapon in a public place, unlawful possession of weapons and threatening violence (discharge firearms or other act at night).

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 29.
