A CAR has smashed into a childcare centre at Taigum on Brisbane's north side.

Emergency services were called to the incident at Taigum Shopping Centre on Beams Rd about 11am.

An elderly woman, believed to be aged in her 80s, was allegedly behind the wheel at the time.

Police have confirmed the building sustained some damage, but no one was injured.

A police investigation is under way.
