Car crashes into tree west of Charters Towers

POLICE in north Queensland are investigating a single vehicle traffic crash, 38km west of Charters Towers overnight.

Initial inquires indicate that at around 11pm a vehicle was travelling east on the Flinders Highway near Belfes Creek when the vehicle has left the road and hit a tree.

A man has been taken to Townsville Hospital in a serious condition.

Investigations continue.
