Brooms, wheelie bin used to fend off man with machete

RESIDENTS have used brooms and a wheelie bin to fend off a man with a machete who was chasing a woman down a street in Wacol on Thursday morning.

At about 7.45am, police were called to Monterey Street following reports a man had rammed a woman's car.

Information received suggests the man then chased the woman on foot down Monterey Street with a machete.

Members of the public came to the woman's aid by confronting the man with brooms and a wheelie bin.

The woman received non-life-threatening injuries to her head and neck during the incident.

The alleged offender is assisting police with their inquiries.
