UPDATE: NRG general manager resigns 'effective immediately'

AFTER hearing of NRG general manager John Abbott's retirement today, Electrical Trade Union organiser Craig Giddins said he hoped the new general manager sat down with the workforce first.

"I hope that the new station manager works more co-operatively with the workforce and makes safety a priority," he said.

Mr Giddins said under Mr Abbott's tenure the company had been through a process of making people redundant and he hoped the new station manager sat down with employees and looked at a collaborative venture in the interests of the workers.
