Blue Heelers star William McInnes to visit Beaudesert

TWO of Australia's most influential men will be visiting Beaudesert this November for a free International Men's Day dinner.

International Men's Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.

An open invitation is being extended to men across the region to come and enjoy a meal at The Centre, Beaudesert and hear from William McInnes, who is a well known actor and author. Mr McInnes, who is best known for his role in the television series Blue Heelers, will discuss his family memories and share stories from his new book, titled Fatherhood.

Australian author William McInnes will feature along with other notable authors at this year's Lines in the Sand Readers and Writers Festival in Hervey Bay from September 14 to 16.

He will be joined by athlete Mark Knowles, captain of the Australian Men's Hockey Team. Mr Knowles will tell of his time at the helm of the Australian Kookaburras and how a boy from the bush made it all the way to lead the Australian Commonwealth Games Team in 2018.

Mayor Greg Christensen said it was a pleasure to be able to welcome men from across the Scenic Rim for the International Men's Day celebration.

"It is a time to catch up with good mates, old mates and even meet some new mates," he said.

"I am looking forward to listening to our speakers discuss their family lives and balancing that with their successful careers.

"It is a worthwhile conversation to enable us to commend Scenic Rim men for being the positive role models that they are."

The free International Men's Day Dinner will be held at The Centre, Beaudesert on Thursday, November 15 at 6.30pm.

Dress smart casual.

RSVPs are essential. Email events@scenicrim.qld.gov.au or call 5540 5399 by Friday, November 9 to secure your place.
