THE Sunshine Coast's own wild girl Bindi Irwin, currently twirling up a storm in the United States' version of Dancing with the Stars, appears to have found love with American wakeboarder Chandler Powell.

Chandler has been a loud and proud part of Bindi's cheer squad while she's been appearing on the show, posting photos of the 17-year-old to his Instagram account and urging followers to vote so she might stay on the show.

Bindi told Us Weekly that she had found love, and that even young Robert gave the burgeoning relationship a thumbs up.

"He tracked me down through the zoo and was like, 'If she doesn't want to stay in contact that's totally fine, but here's my e-mail," she said.

"We stayed in touch and became great friends.

"I can't really say when it turned into more. It just evolved over time and bloomed into this wonderful thing."

Mr Powell now works as a Wildlife Warrior at the Irwin family's Australia Zoo in Beerwah.
