Body found during search for man missing from dinghy

UPDATE: A body has been found in the search for an elderly man believed to have fallen overboard from a dinghy near Big Woody Island.

Police confirmed a body had been recovered but no further details are available at this stage.

EARLIER: Hervey Bay Water Police are searching for a man believed to be missing in waters off Urangan Harbour.

Initial information suggests a man, the sole occupant of a dinghy, left the Urangan Harbour about 10.30am and was last seen heading south.

At 11am, the dinghy was located empty in the vicinity of Woody Island.

A land and air search is under way.
