ALP CANDIDATE for Toowoomba North Kerry Shine has denied he is ducking tonight's Meet Your Candidate Forum.

Organised by the Australian Christian Lobby, the forum at Toowoomba City Church, 10 Neil St, from 7pm, will hear from LNP's Trevor Watts, One Nation's Paul Wilson and independent Josie Townsend with residents encouraged to question candidates.

"With the Queensland Labor Government allowing children to be taught gender fluid theory and radical LGBTIQ sex education to be taught secretly in Queensland schools, constituents are keen to know where Mr Shine stands on this," ACL Queensland Director Wendy Francis said.

"These forums provide a platform for candidates to lay out their vision by addressing an important constituency on key ethical and moral issues that are relevant to them personally and to their electorate.

"Unfortunately, Mr Shine, perhaps unwittingly, is giving the impression that he is hiding from the Christian constituency, which also comes from various political persuasions."

Ms Francis said voters wanted to know if Mr Shine agreed with radical gender fluid, LGBTIQ sex education such as 'Safe Schools'.

However, Mr Shine said it was just a case of him being booked for another event.

"I've got plenty on with only two weeks to the election and I'm guided by my campaign people," he said.

"As for Safe Schools, it's my understanding it was federally funded and given to the states.

"The Queensland Government is no longer funding it but if schools want to keep it they have to fund it themselves.

"There has to be consensus with these sort of things."
