GOLD Coast coach Rodney Eade has dispelled rumours that injured skipper Gary Ablett will be traded.

Ablett is scheduled for surgery on Monday on his reconstructed left shoulder, his season cut short by injury for the third year in a row.

The 32-year-old is still required at the Suns, however, as far as the coach is concerned.

“He’ll be fully fit when he gets back,” Eade told a press conference.

“His performances this year have been good by normal midfielder standards ... the main thing with players in footy, it’s the legs – once their legs go they really struggle.

“His legs are fine. He’s still got that speed, still going to get fit enough. He’ll be fine.”

As well as Ablett, the Suns lost Michael Rischitelli in last weekend’s win over Brisbane, leaving Eade down on midfield options for Saturday night’s clash with the Western Bulldogs in Cairns.
