Lorna Jane Clarkson's life with cars
PARDON the motoring pun, but we imagine activewear icon Lorna Jane Clarkson is a fairly driven person.
The hugely successful businesswoman - practically the Aussie face of desirable sporting gear - knows her cars too.
With a keen eye for style and design, it's little wonder she has a thing for rear-engined air-cooled classics, previously owning a 1960s VW Beetle and pining for Porsche's first production car effort, the gorgeous 356.
Here are Lorna's answers to our posers:
What was your first car?
It was a 1964 VW Beetle.
What are you driving now?
I'm driving a Land Rover Discovery and I love everything about it.
What cars did your family have while you were growing up?
My mum had a Morris Marina that she brought over from England, and it became my older sister's first car. She upgraded to a Holden Gemini and I remember thinking it was the best car in the world.
What is your greatest frustration on the road?
Traffic! Because who doesn't hate traffic?
Do you have any preferred driving music?
Anything that's uplifting and easy to listen to.
If you were to pick anyone in the world to go on a road trip, who would it be and why?
My dog, Roger. He is great company and doesn't tell me how to drive.
What would be your dream car if money were no object?
I have loved the convertible Porsche 356 since I saw it in a movie in my teens. It evokes romance, style and luxury - a design classic.
