THE Queensland Government will spend $360,000 on a three-year research partnership with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the money would help support Queenslanders undertaking research at the Institute.

The Smithsonian will host the researchers while the Queensland Government will pay $5000 worth of airfares and $1250 per week living costs for researchers completing three to four-month study tours.

The 2016 round of the fellowship program will open shortly and only Queensland school teachers and researchers can apply.
