Backhouse defies cold to claim ITU World Series bronze

QUEENSLANDER Gillian Backhouse defied freezing conditions in Edmonton to claim a bronze medal, her first podium in an ITU World Series race.

Regarded as a future star, the 24-year-old beat home highly credentialled compatriots Emma Moffat, Ashleigh Gentle and Emma Jackson.
