60 Minutes co-accused Adam Whittington released

Dual Australian-British citizen Adam Whittington has been released from prison in Beirut, following the 60 Minutes child abduction case earlier this year.

Mr Whittington's Australian-based uncle said Whittington would undergo health checks before leaving Lebanon for his home in Sweden.

The ABC understands he will travel to Australia next month.

Mr Whittington spent more than three months in jail after authorities charged him over the bungled kidnapping of two children in a case covered by Channel 9's 60 Minutes program.
