54 people arrested after drug bust Operation Tennessee

MACKAY district detectives have arrested 54 people on 113 charges many of which were drug related.

Detective Inspector Nikki Colfs said the arrests were the result of 33 warrants being executed across Mackay, Sarina, The Whitsundays, Bowen, Moranbah, Clermont and Dysart as part of Operation Tennessee.

The wide-spread operation had been ongoing in the district over the last 28 days.

Det Insp Colfs said it wasn't linked to the major bust at the Whitsundays in late May this year that resulted in the arrest of 57 people on 277 charges.

"Just goes to show how prevalent (this type of offending is) within our community," Det Insp Colfs said.
