SOUTH-east Queensland could attract 30,000 new jobs and $10 billion to its economy if the region's councils could co-ordinate when building new digital infrastructure, IT consultant Cisco has found.
Its report, South East Queensland: A Smart Region, was Cisco's first in a series it planned to develop across Australia.
The report found a "shared vision" across the region would see it become a world leader in using digital technology and real-time data to improve services.
"For councils, it is about investing in technology that will create efficiencies and reduce waste," the report found.
"For business, it is about opportunities to broaden the economy and for the public it is about using technology to improve their lifestyle."
