AN off-duty Swedish police officer has become an online hit after tackling a pickpocket while wearing nothing but a bikini.

Mikaela Kellner is no stranger to action with an 11-year history in the police force and having starred in Swedish Ninja Warrior, the Daily Mail reports

She was sunbathing in a park in Stockholm when the pickpocket approached.

The man reportedly approached a group of sunbaking women and pretended to sell magazines for the homeless.

Once the man left, one of the women realised her mobile phone had gone.

"I just acted on instinct and didn't think about it so much until after we had pinned him down," Kellner told The Local Sweden.

'When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realised that it probably looked pretty funny.'

Someone took a picture of the arrest, only for it to go viral once the officer posted it to her own Instagram account.

It received more than 6000 likes in just the first day online.

'I would have stepped in no matter what my outfit. Had I been naked I would also have intervened," she said.

"Nothing will stop me."
