Lana Del Rey
CONTROVERSIAL singer Lana Del Rey has spoken out about her wonky performance on Saturday Night Live, saying she thought she sang "fine".
The American singer-songwriter was criticised for hitting wrong notes and appearing uncomfortable during renditions of two songs, Blue Jeans and Video Games.
After the show, rocker Juliette Lewis tweeted: "Wow watching this 'singer' on SNL is like watching a 12 yearold [sic] in their bedroom when theyre pretending to sing and perform #signofourtimes."
But Del Rey, who releases her debut album Born to Die on February 6, has defended the performance.
"I actually felt good about it. I thought I looked beautiful and sang fine," she told Rolling Stone magazine.
Only a handful of artists have performed on SNL without having an album out.
Despite her flourishing music career, the 25-year-old has revealed she still works as a babysitter.
Del Rey said she still lives a "really normal life" despite cracking the charts with songs like Video Games.
"I still have my same babysitting job!" the 25-year-old told MTV.
"I babysit twice a week. When I'm here it's what I do. It's just because it's something I've been doing for a while."
The singer is shortlisted for MTV's annual Brand New award honouring the newcomers most likely to make it big in the coming year. And she's also been nominated for International Breakthrough Act at the Brits.
