AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD Ipswich boy is in hospital after being bitten by a police dog on Thursday.
Police said the boy was bitten about 7am after wandering into a room being searched by the dog.
"The child screamed and was bitten on the upper leg before the dog could be restrained," a police spokesman said.
Police administered first aid and rang the Queensland Ambulance Service.
The boy was rushed to the Mater Children's Hospital.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident.
