Local bands get splendid news

Tags: music, splendour in the grass

THREE local bands will represent the Moreton Bay region at this year’s Splendour in the Grass.

The folk and psychedlic confection of The Honey Month, as well as the juicy dubby hip-hop sounds of The Outlook with Mr Boinkin and rock soundscapes of RVLR will represent the region after each winning a spot at the festival.

“These bands represent the cream of this region’s up and coming music talent and they deserve the exposure that Splendour in the Grass will bring,” Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland said.

“It was a tough judging gig with around 100 bands staking their claim on one of three stage slots that Splendour made available for a truly loud, live and local flavour at Woodford in 2010.”

Mayor Sutherland said all the ingredients were in place for the best Splendour in the Grass ever at Woodford, from July 30 to August 1.

“Moreton Bay Regional Council and the Queensland Government have pulled out all stops to find Splendour in the Grass a new home at the Woodfordia site”.

“We’ve worked in partnership with Premier Anna Bligh to put in place the infrastructure needed to bring Splendour north and I’m confident it will cement Woodford’s reputation as one of the nation’s best festival venues.”
