Doctor inspires women

IPSWICH City Christian Church pastor Francine Hunt thinks women can do anything.

While she is busy with the demands of a religious community and studying for her Bachelor of Social Sciences, the 48-year-old wants to inspire women to achieve their goals.

To do this, she’s hosting an International Women’s Day celebration at the Pancake Manor.

Ipswich medical professional Dr Rama Spencer will be the guest speaker at the ladies’ breakfast.

After practising in Ipswich for about 20 years, Dr Spencer will share her experiences throughout her journey to become a doctor.

“We’re celebrating the achievements of women, so we want to hear about how she achieved her degree and how she became a doctor as a woman,” Pastor Hunt said.

The official theme for International Women’s Day is “women leading the way”.

An additional theme for the breakfast is “be everything you were created to be”.

More about inspiration than leadership, the event is aimed at encouraging women to embrace their achievements.

“Every one of us has a gift and I want them to embrace that gift,” Pastor Hunt said.

Limited tickets are available to the event, which will be held at the Pancake Manor this Saturday, March 6, from 8am to 9.30am.
